Victoria Avenue Summer Initiative - Downtown Socials

Something very exciting is currently under way with a few hard working individuals and organizations within the community - the Victoria Summer Initiative! Comprised of the Chamber of Commerce, downtown businesses and other businesses within the community that want to take part, Mountain Market, the City of Fernie, Tourism Fernie, the Free Press and Fernie Fix, together they have created Wednesday evening music and markets and Sunday street closure to add to the Sunday Market, called the Downtown Social.

Every Sunday from Canada Day long weekend to Labour Day long weekend, the Downtown Social will take place from Beanpod to the Brickhouse. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic, allowing pedestrians and bikers to peruse the shops and entertainment taking place along Fernie's "main" street. Businesses are encouraged to utilize the sidewalk space in creative ways during these times and the organizers have some fun events planned to add to the festivities. Now visitors and residents can move from the Mountain Market in Prentice Park to the Downtown Social on Victoria Avenue - a family friendly, true community experience that will add to what weekends in Fernie have to offer.

More details will be coming soon, if you want to get involved please contact Sarah at the Chamber of Commerce directly - 250-423-6868. We look forward to seeing you on Sundays this summer!
