Yesterday morning I awoke in a panic, about to put on my bike gear when I suddenly realized, "I don't have to ride today. I'm done!" Yes, that's right. Angie and I have completed the TransRockies. In so many ways the experience exceeded any expectation, which says a lot since I had years to imagine what it would be like! Here's an overview of some of my highs (and lows) of the TransRockies 2011!

Times have changed indeed. Downtown Fernie is vibrant with unique, exciting, and "fresh" businesses, and I say fresh because over the last month two long standing Fernie businesses have reinvented themselves by moving across and down the street.

The clocks have gone forward, the evenings are warmer. As we end the film season, thoughts are turning to biking, fishing, boating; watching films becomes a lower priority. Sure, a summer night at the movies is a great way to finish off a day of fun at the beach or on the river, but the average summer flick is usually light entertainment, (emphasis on ‘light’) not the stuff of inspiration and motivation. It turns out there’s no shortage of the moments that dreams are made of though and the spring and summer are when it all kicks in to gear- it’s time to stop watching and start doing!

Cranbrook is among four other communities in the top five 2010 Kraft Hockeyville Competition and is the only community west of Ontario. The community with the most votes will win the title, vote by March 31! The winner will be announced on April 3 during Hockey Night in Canada!

Adorned in a wild red and white Canadian Maple Leaf hat decorated with tiny bells, and clanging her cowbell wildly, Brydon greeted her daughter Emily with a warm hug and then posed for pictures on Wednesday morning after her run in the GMC Canadian alpine skiing championships women's super-G.
