Robbie Burns Celebration at the Fernie Museum
Last year the Robbie Burns party took place on January 22 and was a very momentous occasion. After a lot of work, volunteering, perseverance and dedication, the Fernie Museum received its occupancy permit... the day before the big event!
"The highland dance performance by Donna Cameron with Mike Scott playing the bagpipes was a highlight last year," says Laura Nelson, president of the Fernie & District Historical Society and the number one reason (in my opinion) that we have the amazing resource of the new Fernie Museum space today.
"We raised about 4,000 with 1/4 benefiting the Fernie Writers' Conference, our partners this year as well," she adds. "It was a huge success, so we decided to host it again this year, open it to the public, with advance tickets being sold at the Fernie Museum."
So what are you waiting for? Scotch... bagpipes... live celtic music... great snacks... refreshments... and of course what would Robbie Burns celebrations be without readings from his celebratory work and Haggis?
