Polar Peak Lift Set to Open at Fernie Alpine Resort

The much anticipated grand opening of the Polar Peak Lift at Fernie Alpine Resort is coming up quickly this January 14, 2012 at 11am, after a lot of hard work and dedication. Fernie's local ski resort hosted a competition, entering those that shared a photograph through its facebook page in a contest to be the first to ride the lift on opening day. The Guide's Hut won the contest and are stoked to be a part of this historical event.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the chairlift base station at 11am, guided tours will be available (the terrain is suitable for advanced skiers and snowboarders only), and at 4pm the Griz Bar is hosting the Ski The Peak Apres Party with Fernie's own Shred Kelly! Avalanche Awareness Days are also taking place over this weekend, and a fundraising auction will be highlighted at the Griz as well on the 14th.

Are you ready to ski the peak? I know we are, and hopefully now that it's ready to go The Griz will see that the coast is clear, get out his powder gun, and bring the snow we are all so "patiently" awaiting.
