The Fernie Mountain Film Festival (FMFF) is coming up this February 24-26 and with it a sweet line up of films that "spark awareness of mountain cultures, fragile environments, and the passion and perseverance of global explorers."

FMFF is hosting pre-screenings February 9 and 16, and is comprised of a locals night on the 24, festival weekend on the 25 and 26, along with a kids matinee on the Saturday afternoon.

A new and exciting element added last year is the Fernie Mountain Culture Award, recognizing "long-time supporters of local mountain culture - trails, environmental stewardship, development and prowess in mountain sports, art and science." Last year's winner was Pat Gilmar, known for his amazing contributions to Fernie's mountain biking scene including trail building and legitimization, TransRockies routes in this area, GPS mapping of the entire trail network... and the list only continues.

So, who is going to win this year? Well, it's up to us! There are many worthy citizens out there making a difference, why not spend a few minutes and nominate someone you feel deserves being celebrated?
