Fernie will be In Bloom this Summer!

"The idea basically came from my involvement with the Decorations Committee and the ongoing beautification of the community – we really wanted the businesses to take part and become involved," says Sarah Perry of the Fernie Chamber of Commerce on Fernie in Bloom.
"The City has stepped up to some additional funding for planters and hanging baskets etc. and it would be great if the business community showed their support by also creating something beautiful in front of their store/office," she adds.
So what exactly is Fernie in Bloom? It's actually a contest that encourages individuals to show their pride, environmental responsibility and helps the beautification of Fernie. Any resident or business in Fernie can participate, as long as they have submitted their entry by August 7. There is a $10 entry fee to be paid with the form, with all proceeds going to the Community EcoGarden centre.
Categories include storefront with no garden, best business with a small garden, best Fernie and area hotel, best Fernie and area condo/B&B or guest house, best residential garden (flowers), best residential garden (fruits and veggies) and all you have to do is complete the entry form available at the Fernie Chamber of Commerce and below, start planning, and be a part of this 'beautiful" initiative... maybe even win some prizes.
Fernie is already such a beautiful town and community, and with all of doing our part and putting in a little extra effort with initiatives such as these, we can only make it that much more attractive and unique. We're looking forward to seeing this year's entries!
