Tears and Gears Mountain Duathlon
One mountain town, two mountain girls, with a mutual love for trails, races, sweat & exhilaration. Thus was born Fernie's First Annual Mountain Duathlon in 2010, encompassing all that and then some. Tears & Gears for example.
After two successful years, 2012 saw some 'Enduro' sized changes . For those of you who liked the traditional format, the T&G Classic Duathlon remained the firm favourite, for those who were looking for more of a challenge, the new T&G Enduro offered a multitude of new options - this course was available to just run, just bike, race as a team or grind out solo. More options, more mileage and more tears & gears.
2013 saw the addition of several categories but firmed up the race's status as a duathlon- there would be no single discipline races, so it was either find a partner, or tackle the whole thing solo. The challenge was on!
The Tears & Gears Mountain Duathlon was designed to test the abilities, determination and strength of participants, while also celebrating the amazing terrain and trails available in Fernie, not to mention adding to the already impressive array of biking and running events held in this town August through October. 2014 is sure to be another favourite on the annual racing calendar.
Registration details to come - mark your diary for Saturday September 6th 2014.
It could be wet, hot, muddy or all three, but whatever the weather, it's going to be better than ever.
