The Abramson Singers at The Fernie Arts Station

Vancouver singer-songwriter Leah Abramson and band (AKA The Abramson Singers) is influenced by American old-time music, classic songs of the 60s and 70s, and indie-rock. Writing quirky, catchy and beautiful songs about surprising topics such as truck drivers, old maids, the oil sands and the famous Canadian rebel Louis Riel, Leah is a heartbreaking and captivating storyteller. The UK’s fRoots and Maverick Magazines gave the band’s debut album four stars, and they have just recorded a second album, begun during their artist residency at the Banff Centre with Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire) and Tony Berg (Jakob Dylan) and finished with producer Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan, Black Mountain). Their new album, “Late Riser” will be released in spring 2013.
