Concert and Market Series Celebrate Mid-Week Evenings in Downtown Fernie

In its third year, the Concert and Market Series has quickly become a staple to summertime in Fernie, BC. Beginning July 3, 2013 with the Fernie band Half the Staff, these weekly outdoor concerts include local vendors selling food, refreshments, jewellery and more, a refreshment garden, activities for children and of course a diverse lineup of live music.

This evening for its fourth act in the lineup, the series welcomes The Slocan Ramblers - the new sound of Canadian bluegrass. Well steeped in the American roots tradition, this fearless four piece acoustic act casually stretches boundaries and challenges convention.

The Toronto-based quartet has quickly gained a reputation throughout Ontario and Quebec for their energetic live performances, impressive musicianship and their uncanny ability to convert anyone into a fan.

The Slocan Ramblers have transcended their bar gig roots, performing at many of Canada’s largest folk and jazz festivals as well as opening for Grammy award-winner Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

With a long list of shows in BC and Alberta this summer, the Slocan Ramblers are expanding their roots and bringing their brand of bluegrass west!
