My journey into cake decorating began from a desire to make my friend’s birthdays special by baking them a cake. I couldn’t remember the last time I had received one for my own birthday which inspired me to reintroduce the custom.

Media Arts has been a passion of mine ever since I can remember. I guess you could say it all started with taking pictures of my friends riding their bikes on the many biking trails in and around Fernie.

While I’m out in Vancouver pursuing my dream, I feel so proud to be from Fernie and am grateful to have so many people reaching out and enjoying the music I have produced. The feedback and support from the community has been amazing, and through Internet networking I have been able to reach a wide base of fans much more easily than would have been previously possible.

The Fernie Writers’ Conference is back this July and with it a new schedule and array of exciting instructors and courses. One of these instructors is acclaimed Canadian singer/songwriter Mae Moore, teaching a course on songwriting, the first time a course of this nature has been included in the Conference’s lineup.

For me, photography is something that has just kind of happened. Sure, I used to flip through old National Geographic magazines and think how cool it would be to take the photos I saw, or wonder how I could get into Powder Magazine, but that was because I wanted to be a professional skier; I never really thought of being a professional photographer.

I never considered myself an artist. I’ve never taken an art class or thought much about it really. I just started playing around and people started to notice. My hobby has turned into something more than I ever thought possible, something I enjoy doing that allows me to make some money on the side.
