While putting together this guide and through the many columns in the monthly editions of the Fernie Fix, every now and again I get a sense of nostalgia and it hits me… there have been changes, but what exactly are they and why do I so adamantly affirm that Fernie hasn’t changed at all?

Fernie's Own Hot Tub Time Machine

Don't miss the premier of "Hot Tub Time Machine" in Fernie, kicking off the Reel Canadian Film Festival. See the numerous Fernie residents and the scenery we love showcased in this Hollywood movie, which was filmed in May of just last year. This article is a great precursor!

Set for release on Friday, "Hot Tub Time Machine" was inspired by ski movies of the 1980s such as "Hot Dog... The Movie." Exterior scenes for the film were shot mainly at Fernie Alpine Resort in Canada.

Maybe you’ve seen the posters around town regarding the possibility of a French school in Fernie. You may have noticed Isabel’s name and number at the bottom? Isabel is part of a group of Francophone parents looking to start this French school.

D.A.R.E Letters

Each year the grade five students at Isabella Dicken are put through the D.A.R.E. program to learn about making decisions when it comes to alcohol, drugs and peer pressure. When they have finished this ten week program each student must write a letter to themselves upon graduating from High School. Here are two letters from this year’s D.A.R.E. class. A couple weeks ago while getting ready to take a vacation, a friend decided to bleach his well. The once every six months or so cleansing of the water. He dosed it good, waited and started the well back up. Nothing. He reset the motor. Nothing. He heard the solenoid click, but no motor, no water.
