If it's going to snow, let it dump!

Just a week ago I was running in a T-shirt in Port Alberni, BC, taking in the sun-filled day, stunningly green landscape and sparkling water of Sproat Lake. And then it hit me - I was coming back to Fernie and back to two months of winter.

Normally I'm 'cool' with winter up until April, when I get antsy to get out on my bike. But this year it's getting to me. Maybe it's the on and off again nature of this season - one day I'm running on trails, the next I'm racing for first tracks. One weekend I'm enveloped in spring-infused Vancouver Island, the next my teeth are chattering as I scrape my car in -20 weather.

Interestingly when it does indeed snow the champagne powder Fernie is known for, like the big dump we received last night, it makes me giddy and only crave more. So, I say if it's going to snow, why not dump? Two more months - bring it on.

Funny, after I wrote this it

Funny, after I wrote this it dumped nearly 25cms. Skiing yesterday was epic, only five students showed up for the MAST class that I teach and I wasn't surprised. Hopefully you all got out and got some powder! Looking forward to more.
