It could not have been a more perfect day for this shot. I knew that I wanted to shoot towards Lost Boys Pass since the inversion looked perfect and that’s where the sun was shining. Local rippers Mikey Witlox and Connor Gliege had gone up the day before to build this great stepdown in anticipation of the inversion. Having the sun in the shot was perfect since every time the riders hit the jump a lot of snow was kicked up and the sun would shine right through. A beautiful day with great riders goes a long way.

Woof went missing on Thanksgiving in October and resurfaced in the Annex on Christmas Day. She survived for three months in freezing temperatures and was spotted at the ski hill and Island Lake. After posting the image onto www.ferniepets.ca her owner was able to be traced and they were reunited in February.

This scraggy tree is part of a still growing obsession I have with finding and photographing solitary trees. This image is a four minute exposure made under the full moon last October out in the South Country.

I managed to get up high on the steps of City Hall when the Olympic Torch was being carried through the crowd and was fortunate to have a great angle on the proceedings. I was really impressed with the large number of people that had come out to cheer on the Torch Relay - the energy in the crowd was palpable. To me this frame really embodies the community spirit of Fernie as well as that of the Olympics!
